SkyTools V2.0

Current EventsLeg.: Database power search tool. Click to enlarge

There is a great feature called current events. What this does is calculate lunar phases, meteor showers, eclipses, planetary phenomena such as oppositions, greatest elongations and conjunctions, Jupiter satellite events and greatest elongation of satellites from their planets. Current events will also list appulses, transits and occultations for any object. You can select all of the events or just some and have SkyTools do a search. It will list the events. You can click on an event and in a spreadsheet below it will list very specific times and other info for the event. The best part is SkyTools will generate a calendar similar to the one hanging on your wall with pictures of pretty women. The calendar list the events SkyTools calculated and you can print this out and hang on the wall to keep track of what is going on. Another feature called special events is very similar to current events but special events predicts events years in advance while current events only months in advance.Leg.: Event Calendar. Ephemerides

Ephemerides window calculates ephemeris positions of solar system objects, optimum viewing times and orbits of binary stars. The ephemerides has 3 modes of calculation. One is just simple positional data for an object over a selected time. The optimal nightly viewing ephemerides is very unique and handy mode. It will calculate the position and when it is best to observe a particular solar system object or deep sky object. This is very handy feature that will be used a lot by many. The last mode is the Binary star ephermis. This calculates the position angle and separation of binary double stars. The ephemerides is very useful and has unique features that greatly benefit amateur astronomers.Leg.: Ephemerides Window. Click to enlarge
