Stellarium

Although somewhat simplistic compared to other Astronomy sky charts, Stellarium's simplicity is exactly what makes this program excellent for the beginner/novice or those who do not own or have access to large viewing instruments.

This program is extremely easy to use, offers the beginner an excellent opportunity to learn and recognize the constellations as well as the planets and some of the more common DSO's.

Designed for just this purpose, Stellarium is geared to be user-freindly and for those with little more than thier eyes, binoculars or starter scopes to learn about and enjoy the wonders of the night sky.

But don't be fooled, this simple program also has lots to offer for those who may be looking for a little more than the basics as well...a LOT more.

Bravo for those who recognize that beginners and those with "basic" equpiment can also enjoy the night sky!
