Deepsky Imaging | | Description: | May 24, 2009 - New Version 1.2.2 - Now adds AVI video capture in addition to TIF capture.

NEW: Added AVI Capture to the capture as its own tab. Now you can capture to a raw AVI file which is the preferred method for solar system imaging. Watch out for disk space though as it gets eaten up quick!

NEW: Added the ability to specify the path to where your captures get stored. It still defaults to the MyCaptureVideo folder but now you can change that in preferences

NEW: Added Batch Image Cleanup to the FILE menu. This lets you apply leveling, deinterlacing, and hot pixel removal in a batch process by specifying an input and output folder. A lot faster than doing it one at a time.

NEW: Added a stopwatch to the video capture screen for manual timings

BUG: Opening images in Windows Vista was painfully slow. This has been corrected.

BUG: Fixed capture settings bug that would give an error when clicking OK in the settings screen.

BUG: When using a custom capture size, the size shown in the preview window sometimes would not display at the specified size.

DSLR Timer | | Description: | DSLR Timer is a DSLR interval timer using the parallel port or serial port of your notepad or PC.
It can control series of long exposures of digital cameras as it is needed for astrophotography. You need a special cable to connect the camera''s jack for the cable remote control to the computer. A description of such a cable can be found on my homepage.
DSLR-Timer offers the following functions:
- Single shot (Start - Stop). Mainly for testing the correct setup before starting an intervall series.
- Intervall timer. This is the main feature of this program
- Exposure time from 1 second to 1 hour per image
- DSLR Timer can consider the time for mirror lock-up, noise reduction and the time which is needed to save the images.
- Pause-Function to interrupt and continue a series of shots.
- Display of the total remaining time for the complete series, including the time for exposure, mirror lock-up, noise reduction and save.
- Display of the time of day, when the series will be finished. So you can easily go for a coffee and come back in time.
- Camera control via parallel port. You can use LPT1 to LPT3 or any port address. This is very important for the usage of PCMCIA cardbus cards..
- You can specify, which PIN of the parallel port is used to control the camera. Only the one bit which corresponds to this PIN will be changed. The other PINs can be used by other programs. So you can control a webcam with long exposure via the same parallel port at the same time
- Languages: English, German, French

Native use of RAW files from most DSLRs (CR2, NEF, CRW, ...) without using an intermediate file format (TIFF or other).
Darks, Flats and Offsets computed from and applied directly to the RAW picture before any
interpolation.
Stacking methods: average, median, kappa-sigma clipping, auto adaptive weighted average, entropy weighted average, maximum...
Preview of all pictures (including RAW)
Simple post-processing with RGB levels, luminance curve and saturation adjustments.
Save the resulting picture to 16 and 32 bit TIFF or FITS files with or without adjustments applied.

RotAndStack | | Description: | Meant to take several images and merge them. This process is used mainly on dark images to remove the noise level. The difference between this program and more professional ones are the following: it's free, it works with jpg (and png) format so you can use it with images taken with digital cameras, and finally it's much simpler. With this program you can for instance set your camera on a tripod, take a bunch of 30s exposures of the night sky (more time will lead to star trails) and stack them to enhance the contrast. | | | Version: | 1.1 | | Filesize: | 5.34 MB | | Added on: | 14-Mar-2006 | | Downloads: | 1314 | | Rating: | 10.0 (2 Votes) | | Category: | Windows / Astrophotography - CCD. bmp, imq, st4, stx, ima, cpa, pic, tif, tiff, nef, gif, mx5, hx5 (660x500), xl8 (510x500), sxl (510x512), dat, pcx, per, dib, arn, blu, bb1, bb2, bb3, bb4, grn, irq, ibg, img, ir1, ir2, ir3, n07, n15, pds, red, ihw sgr, sur, sun, vio, cpt, gls, fts, fits, ftz, at1, 08b, raw, sbi, st5, st6, st7, st8, st9, 237, imi, ccd, tga, pnm, ppm, pbm, pgm, ras.
Some variants and flavours aren't translated, due to some undocumented things. No more problems viewing/working, with its favourite astronomical image processor, satellite images in Titus format, PDS (except the images by Clementine and a few by Mars Global Surveyor), VICAR, TIFF, SBIG's and StarLight's ones, etc. FITS files can be Rice or IHW compressed.
The software automatically inserts the observation date and the instrumental characteristics present in some format; for the other ones, feel free to contact me.
On the fly, BifsConv corrects some errors made by some FITS generating software (like Meade, AstroArt, Pisco, Avi2Bmp).
Four versions of BifsConv are available:
bifsconv.exe (286+; DOS/DOS-box; filenames à la "8.3")
bifsconl.exe (386+; DOS and Windows; filenames à la "*.3")

PlanetWarp | | Description: | Of all the objects in the night sky the moon shows by far the greatest amount of detail through any telescope or imaging system. Unfortunately though only 59% of it can ever be seen from Earth and a fair portion of that area is only ever seen near to the lunar limb where the shapes and details of the craters are distorted by the oblique viewing angle.
PlanetWarp is designed to get round that problem and re-project or warp your lunar images so that you see the edge features as though you were observing them from above. The program will work equally well for sunspots near the solar limb or planetary features but its primary purpose is for images of the moon.

GradientXTerminator | | Description: | «A gradient removal plug-in for Adobe Photoshop® that is fast, easy to use, and really works. It can process 16-bit or 8-bit images, grayscale or RGB color. It easily tackles large-scale gradients from light pollution, but can also handle vignetting and even tricky edge, corner, and circular gradients that are very hard to deal with otherwise. And assuming you already use Photoshop in your work flow, you may now have one less program to transfer your image into.» | | | Version: | 1 | | Filesize: | 80.00 Kb | | Added on: | 31-May-2005 | | Downloads: | 1099 | | Rating: | 5.5 (2 Votes) | | Category: | Windows / Astrophotography - CCD.
