  Project CLEA
Description: Project CLEA (Contemporary Laboratory Experiences in Astronomy) develops laboratory exercises that illustrate modern astronomical techniques using digital data and color images. They are suitable for high- school and college classes at all levels, but come with defaults set for use in introductory astronomy classes for non-science majors.

Each CLEA laboratory exercise includes a dedicated computer program, a student manual, and a technical guide for the instructor. The technical guides describe file formats, user-settable options, and algorithms used in the programs. The most advanced CLEA labs run under Windows on PC's, or on color-capable Macintosh computers.

  SpeedSolar
Description: SpeedSolar is a small program that eases the understanding of different aspects of the universe and makes it possible to do a few experiments/calculations around the Lorenz Theory, with surprising results.

Features include: calculating the time difference according to speed (the faster we go the slower we grow older); calculation of the distance of thunders based on the time difference between light and sound; conversion of light years in kilometers; comparison of the speed of light with one's own speed.

  Orbit
Description: The ballistic simulator «Orbit» allows the physical principles of the motion in the gravitational field of the Earth to be demonstrated and learned.

You can calculate with this program the ballistic trajectories of the thrown bodies and orbits of spacecrafts and visualize the astroballistic situation on the flat map of the world and on the rotating globe in the real time.

  Orbit Xplorer
Description: «Calculate and plot the orbits of up to 10 gravitationally interacting bodies. Easily create, run, save and print your own orbit simulation. Show time, distance, velocity, acceleration and energy continously. Create graphs of distance, velocity, acceleration and energy v. time. Run up to four simultaneous simulations. »

The unregistered version can only run one simulation at a time, and only for twenty seconds. The print item is disabled.

  G-LenS
Description: «The aim of this project was to obtain and use a knowledge of gravitational lensing to develop a computer model to simulate lensing effects on distant sources(...) it has succeeded (...) in producing a working simulation of a point mass gravitational lens system - which can not only simulate basic lens theory, but can also reproduce the lensing effects of an, approximated, observed system.

It is hoped this computer model can help others to understand the theory and observations of gravitational lensing. Used as part of a lecture course, this program may help to convey basic principles which might otherwise be difficult to visualise.»

  Planetary Apprentice
Description: A reference tool that displays several properties for a selected planet. There are 18 properties divided into four categories - orbital, physical, axial, and atmospheric. The Apprentice shows all 18 properties for your seleceted planet in one scrollable window.

Features include:

  • One-click unit conversion: Clicking a property given in metric units will automatically open the Apprentice's conversion tool, enter the value clicked, and convert it to an american unit.
  • Comparative chart: All nine planets with their respective properties are shown side by side in one chart. Handy for comparing differences and similarities between two or more planets.
  • Customizable Interface: The colors and fonts used by the Apprentice can be customized by you.
  • Image Gallery: A collection of several planetary images from NASA and the NSSDC.
