It calculates heliocentric, geocentric, and topocentric positions of the Sun (Earth), Moon, planets, minor planets, comets and fixed stars in ecliptical, equatorial, and horizontal coordinates (including angular differences between two bodies), with optional corrections for parallax and refraction; rectangular coordinates, velocity, apparent diameter, magnitude, phase, lunar libration, orbital elements, differences for all of these, and more. In addition Alcyone Ephemeris offers a wealth of functionality: star chart generation, 3D-visualization of heliocentric and planetocentric orbits, plotting ephemeris data (as a function of time or in a parametric plot), searching for specific values, data export (HTML, Excel, Text, CSV, XML), printing, and (PDF-/HTML-/RTF-) report generation. Access to the complete Bright Star Catalogue, calendar conversion, and an astronomical event calculator are available.
The ephemeris calculation is based upon Steve Moshier's analytical ephemeris using trigonometric expansions for the earth and planets and the lunar ephemeris ELP2000-85 of Chapront-Touzé and Chapront for the moon, both adjusted to Jet Propulsion Laboratory's DE404. There are further adjustments in Alcyone Ephemeris, some optional, to JPL's more recent DE406, the most accurate long-term ephemeris. Alcyone Ephemeris is fast. With an Athlon XP 2000+ processor, 100 calculations of geocentric longitude, latitude, and distance for the sun, moon, and all planets take about 2 seconds.
A comprehensive documentation includes tabular and graphic comparisons of calculations with HORIZONS Ephemeris generator . Alcyone Ephemeris is shareware and runs under Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista.

NightCal | | Description: | NIGHTCAL - NEW VERSION RELEASED 6TH JANUARY 2006
NightCal is a simple, practical tool for basic observation session planning. It produces a single A4 sheet monthly calendar telling the user when it gets dark, when the Moon rises and sets and what the Moon should look like when it does make an appearance. It also provides data on the elongation of the inferior planets and a quick aide mémoire for planetary conjunctions. The output is designed to be printed so that you can stick it on your notice board at home or at work or saved as a graphics file for inclusion in newsletters or publishing on the web. We hope you find it useful.
This new version (0.7.2) contains many improvements including:
- Full installation program.
- Ability to view help files from within NightCal.
- New special greyscale calendar printing option optimised for viewing printed output in red light.
- Southern hemisphere users can now have the Moon graphic rotated.
- Implementation of options window to allow you to control the display of calendar information and to alter some default values, including:
- Option to input/display latitude and longitude in decimals.
- Option to start calendar on any day of the week.
- Option for which form of evening twilight to display (Civil, Nautical or Astronomical) - Half hour increments introduced for time zones. Plus numerous other enhancements, tweaks and minor bug fixes. Please note that the minimum operating system specification has been changed from Windows ‘95 to Windows ‘98.

Meteoracle | | Description: | Meteoracle is a tool that can be used to predict meteor activity for a given place and time. While it attempts to give actual numbers, it's main power is that:
- it allows you to see the observing conditions on a given night,
- it allows you to quickly compare activity on several nights and
- it allows you to compare activity during different parts of a night.
Meteoracle is a helpfull tool to plan observations while it also gives an indication of the actual activity that can be expected. | | | Version: | 1.16 | | Filesize: | 1.67 MB | | Added on: | 29-Dec-2005 | | Downloads: | 833 | | Rating: | 9.0 (1 Vote) | | Category: | Windows / Ephemerides - General Purpose | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details

Accurate Times | | Description: | Accurate Times is the official program adopted by the Jordanian Ministry of Islamic Affairs to calculate the prayer times in Jordan. The program runs under Windows, and it is written by Mohammad Odeh, a member of the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS), and the Vice-President of Crescents' Observation and Mawaqeet Committee, of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences (AUASS).
Accurate Times calculates the following astronomical events:
- Islamic prayer times (Fajer, Shuroq, Dhohur, Aser, Maghreb, and Isha).
- Sun Times (Beginning and End of Twilight, Sunrise, Sunset, and Sun Transit).
- Moon Times (Moon rise, Moon transit, and Moon set).
- Moon phases (Geocentric or Topocentric).
- Crescent Visibility for both; New and Old crescents.
- Calculations for Sun and Moon Ephemeris.
- Qiblah direction (Direction to Ka'bah in Mecca).
- Qiblah time (The time at which the Sun or Sun's shadow is at the Qiblah direction).
- Hejric-Gregorian conversion.
- The prayer call (Athan) launches automatically when it is the time of the prayer.
- A reminder is heard few minutes before the next prayer.

Esquire Nautical Almanac | | Description: | Almanac based on the VSOP 87 theory. For stars the effects of aberration, precession and nutation are applied. Epoch 2000 is used. The periodic terms used are not limited to those given in Meeus book but to around 25000, for all the objects, obtained from various sources . Pluto is not added in this version as it is not required for navigation but will be added in the next version along with eclipses, different type of sailings and various methods of position fixing.
The new version of Esquire has the solar and lunar Eclipse dates . The other new feature of this version is GPS interface . Ephemeris | | Description: | Solar system ephemeris program. The features include: a) Positions for the Sun, Moon, planets, comets and minor planets; b) Easy input of orbital elements; c) Production of tables of up to 2000 positions for any time interval and twilight setting, ideal for comets.
The algorithms are based on Jean Meeus' work published in Astronomical Formulae and thus produce excellent positional accuracy, typically to 1 arc second. Recently added is the ability to export the planets positions and a comet or minor planet to 'planets.dat' which can then be used by Mel Bartels scope.exe program which computer controls a telescope. | | | Filesize: | 299.00 Kb | | Added on: | 23-Mar-2004 | | Downloads: | 1264 | | Category: | Windows / Ephemerides - General Purpose | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details
