Shows a full featured eclipse map (central line of the umbra, northern and southern limits of the umbra and penumbra et cetera, et cetera...); displays a table with the limits of the umbra by longitude; shows a graphic with local observation circumstances and a simulation; and allows to calculate which eclipses were/will be visible for a given place over a six millenniums time span.
The program can now display the map with the CIA world databank II. To get the rivers, coast line and boundaries data files visit the homepage.
You also need to download additional Bessel elements data files. A Japanese version is available as well.

AstroMAT | | Description: | Using this program you can determine the dates of the occurrence of New Moons and Solar and Lunar Eclipses.
In the Solar eclipses section you can also see a map with the Solar Eclipse Central Line over the world and you will be able - by choosing a city - to see if the eclipse is visible in there or not.
The program also includes a help file with pictures and movies, but due to his size it is not included in the basic installation.
New to version 1.2: AstroMAT now supports "Windows XP" themes and shows the menus like the ones you may be familiarized with in the "MS Office XP" suite.
The link in the name (above) points to the English installation file. There's also a Portuguese version of the program you can get here. | | | Version: | 1.2 | | Filesize: | 2.64 MB | | Added on: | 05-Sep-2003 | | Downloads: | 941 | | Rating: | 7.0 (3 Votes) | | Category: | Windows / Ephemerides - Eclipses | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details | Comments (2) | |
Héclium | | Description: | Total solar eclipses simulator.
Features include: showing the Earth in azimuthal orthographic projection according to a chosen angle; calculating the intersection (if it does exist) with the Earth's surface of the line that crosses the centers of the Sun and of the Moon (the optimal point to observe a total eclipse); calculating and plotting the intersection (if it exists) of the Earth with the Moon's umbra cone; calculating and plotting the intersection (if it exists) of the Earth with the Moon's penumbra cone.
The installation procedure is a bit of a nag (plenty of little files).

Eclipse | | Description: | A program for searching and graphically simulating lunar and solar eclipses with great precision ranging from the year 4713 B.C to 6500 A.C.
Things it can do:
- Calculates the amount of eclipses who took or will take place in a given year, including day and hour;
- Calculates the instants and geographical coordinates of all relevant zones of the different stages of an eclipse (beginning, central phase an end);
- Draws a Map of the part of the globe where the eclipse will take place/be seen;
- Shows over an Earth Map the names of around 1350 cities;
- Traces over an Earth Map the magnitude lines of a solar eclipse;
- Simulates the progression of the eclipse by drawing the real path of the umbra and penumbra cone of the Moon over an Earth Map;
- Checks the possibility of observing a given eclipse from one's location/city;
- Shows the different stages of the event as they can be observed from a given spot;
- Simulates the progression of the eclipses with steps ranging from one second to one hour;
- Shows the positions of the planets visible during the eclipse in a 30 degrees wide window centred on the Sun or on the shadow of the Earth;
- Calculates the lunar phases, month by month, for any given year;
- Measures the distance in kilometres at sea level between any two points over the Earth.
