We will not even try to describe it, since its great.
The only problem is that it only allows a 30 day evaluation. After that it stops functioning
Note: This program is no longer under development.

ObsReduce | | Description: | A program that reduces observations of satellites relative to the background stars into their precise coordinates. Observers identify their reference stars in a simulated binocular or telescope field of view, select them using the mouse, enter the observed geometric and positional data, and the program automatically produces a formatted observation report.
ObsReduce supports all three reporting formats in common use: IOD, UK and RDE (Russell Eberst's abbreviated form of the UK format.) All R.A. and Dec formats and epochs are supported, as are visual magnitude and optical period reporting.
Also supports three observational geometries: satellite in-line with reference stars, satellite forming right-angled triangle with reference stars, and appulses (satellite passing near a single star).
Several star databases, derived from the Tycho 2 catalogue, are available for ObsReduce. The complete set of Tycho 2 stars is also available, consisting of more than 2.5 million stars to about magnitude 13. The program enables the addition of stars missing from the database, as well as coordinates of planets and asteroids.
To aid in finding and confirming reference stars used in observations, ObsReduce has the ability to display predicted satellite tracks computed using the SGP4 and SDP4 orbital models. It also displays the difference between the satellite's predicted and observed time and track, and can compensate for Earth's rotation in the interim, to produce accurate plots of satellite tracks.
ObsReduce can be configured to simultaneously write its results to as many as four text files and provides numerous configuration options. | | | Version: | 1.2 | | Filesize: | 1.98 MB | | Added on: | 06-June-2004 | | Downloads: | 605 | | Rating: | 8.0 (1 Vote) | | Category: | Windows / Satellites | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details | Comments (1)
Sat_Explorer | | Description: | Software for satellite users. It provides visibility forecasts as a waiting delay and a visibility duration very quickly and all the time.
Ten (and even more) satellites can be monitored simultaneously.
The program is written to be run as a background task while you are running other programs in your PC or doing odd jobs.
If you specify it, when a satellite is approaching, a sound alarm will be sent. The program will be restored on screen if it was reduced in the task bar and the name of the approaching satellite will blink yellow for a quick view.
As soon as a satellite is visible, the name of the satellite blinks green; an alarm is optionally sent and the program window is restored on screen if it was reduced in the task bar.
When a satellite disappears, its next visibility is immediately computed and monitoring restarts for this new visibility.
For each of the monitored satellites, SAT_EXPLORER provides a detailed description of the next or current visibility, minute by minute: elevation, azimuth, range, altitude, position, phase and Doppler shift. You can choose to monitor a further visibility if the next one is unusable because of a too low or to short visibility.
Useful mostly to radio amateurs. | | | Version: | 2.5.2 | | Filesize: | 1.44 MB | | Added on: | 09-Mar-2004 | | Downloads: | 820 | | Category: | Windows / Satellites | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details
OpenSatellite | | Description: | Satellite tracking program. The main features are:
- pass prediction results are presented in four modes: text/tabular, two local sky simulation modes, «satellite over an Earth map» mode;
- able to syncronize the PC clock with NTP servers over the Internet;
- able to self-update the TLE files;
- very easy to use and handle (especially for beginners);
- it is principally made for visual observing (namely for the ISS with a magnitude up to -1).

Element Manager | | Description: | Designed to manipulate NASA/NORAD "two line elements". Files containing 2 line elements will be imported regardless of accompanying text. Saved element sets will be stripped of all extra text only saving the 2 line elements themselves. Many satellite tracking programs have the capability to do this to some extent but Element Manager was created to give you total control over your element files.
It can extract elements from practically any DOS Text file (UNIX files will be detected and a "fix" routine will ask for permission to convert to DOS format). You can drag an element file from the Desktop. You can open your web browser or email program or any text source of elements and cut and paste elements from those sources to the program.
Element Manager can manipulate elements in a number of ways. Selections to limit the number of active satellites based on the age, decay, inclination, eccentricity, mean motion, apogee, perigee, argument of perigee, right ascension of ascending node, International Launch Designation, common name, visual magnitude and radar cross section are possible
The program can make selections or exclusions by NORAD number. You can create multiple select files containing lists of satellites you are either interested in or wish to ignore.
From the View Menu (one of six) , you can select five additional displays:
. The Statistics Screen displays a statistical breakdown on the entire group of active element. Some rudimentary graphing of various parameters is available here too.
. The Archive Analysis screen will display graphs showing trends in satellite archives. (Archives are single files containing multiple element sets for an individual satellite). So, you can watch the apogee of a satellite lower in altitude over time for a particular satellite.
. The Tracking View displays a world map showing the orbit of the satellite and its current location.
. The Orbital View displays a graphic representation of the orbit along with all of the element set data and some additional derived data. The current position of the satellite can be displayed along the ellipse of the orbit, IF the tracking screen is active too.
. The Two Line File selection opens a view of what a two line file would look like if you Saved your active satellites. In addition, the age, perigee and apogee for each element set is displayed. | | | Version: | 1.5.9 | | Filesize: | 2.68 MB | | Added on: | 14-Sep-2003 | | Downloads: | 749 | | Category: | Windows / Satellites | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details

Reentry | | Description: | Computation of the atmosphere entrance of space vehicles. You can use this program for many purposes, e.g. to simulate the '"death spiral" of the space station MIR, the return of an Apollo space cap from the Moon or the entrance of meteorites into Mars. The atmosphere is accurately simulated.
Among other things, the program also shows the effect of arising and unfolding parachutes and considers g-forces. | | | Version: | 1.2 | | Filesize: | 1.22 MB | | Added on: | 11-Sep-2003 | | Downloads: | 505 | | Category: | Windows / Satellites | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details
