Used this for almost 4 years. Great program. I use it to control my Meade telescope, which seems to be more accurate than the scopes computer. AL

Perhaps the best freeware skycharting software out there. I have to admit I was VERY surprised to find a program of this quality and depth at no cost. Definitely worth downloading.

That nobody doubts in using this software if wants the best more powerful atlas of astronomy (for me). Their enormous capacity to integrate different catalogues, their connection with Virtual Moon Atlas and other arguments, is sufficient to choose it. And above it is free. Thank you very much to its programmers and to AstroTips for offers this package.

For me, a relative novice in computer usage, this program is a well-appreciated, and well-loved, learning tool

In my opinion, the best planetary software around and the paradox is that its FREE! I have used Starrynight, The Sky and a few others which are pretty cool. But the question is: Why should I spend dozens and hundreds of dollars on a planetarium software if I can get the best one for free.

I have been workimg with this program for about one week. I am begining to get the hang of it, but I have experienced a few problems that are preventing me doing what I want to accomplish, which is to mark and lable the entire sky with an observation list. This would help me to visualise the distribution and to establish a sequence of the objects. I have found that it is only possible to place 20 eyepiece circles on the chart. An error message (Range check error ) appears. With the lables, I have had the problem of losing all of my edits by choosing right click, clear selection. This wipes out the entire map, even if it was just previously saved. Once I have placed a lable it is there to stay. Maybe I will learn how to use this with time , but I find myself more comfortable with my data base in Msworks. I have 10 fields of data on approximately 400 double stars. I am very hapy with the maps tha can be prined, and the best thing of all, "it's free".

Far and away the most comprehensive and user friendly freeware program I have found.

This package is rather daunting in its scope (no pun intended) and complexity. Getting used to juggling the various catalogues round takes a little while, but is well worth the effort. My main problem origionally was forgetting that each time I go to it entering which "Options" I wanted. It would possibly be better if these could be "Remembered" from one closing to the next opening of the programme. I particularly like the ability to draw sky maps with circles on representing various eye pieces. I have one set at the diameter of my finder 'scope, so that when searching for faint and fuzzies (or dim and dismals) I can see what my finder 'scope will show of the area, and I can also mark on it the magnitudes of visible stars. All in all a very worthwhile download.
